This town was discovered by a group of people that took it over from a tribe. The tribe had cursed the people, telling them that them and their families generations would never be able to leave the town. Soon after they ignored the curse and kicked out the tribe it rained and flooded the town, then after that it rarely rained since.
Now:
It still rarely rains in this part of Texas. Most people have never heard of it and if they do they never want to go and check it out. It's not a big tourist spot and very few families come out here to live. Mostly because they're afraid of the curse on the people now are said to haunt the town. From time to time they can be found in parts of the times, especially the hot spots of the town where people were killed. They were said never to leave because of the curse so they're stuck there, left to haunt the new people that move in. The only reason most people come is in hopes to find gold. Some kids runaway to the cool named town to get away from their parents. Others are sent out here in hopes that it will straighten up their act. Usually once they're here though, they feel as if they never want to leave. The curse obviously still remains and so do the ghosts. Can you handle living here?
